The frozen Pegnitz River in Nuremberg's old town. |
You might have heard about the record-breaking cold temperatures over the last week or so in central and eastern Europe. To confirm, it is heart-stopping cold out there right now. It hurts to breathe. I don't think the temperature has reached 25 degrees it at least a week, and during my waking hours it has dipped as low as -7 degrees. Fahrenheit!
The condensation on the inside of window panes is ice. There is snow on the ground and rooftops - from a week and a half ago!
Mom and Dad arrive in Nuremberg on Friday!(!!) They've been enjoying 70 degree weather in California and I think that the 20 degree high that is predicted for that afternoon is going to be a bit of shock to the system.
Sidenote: I think my favorite thing about writing this post was remembering/being inspired by Aqua Teen's Foreigner Belt episode.
